When printing greeting cards (birthday etc) via Microsoft Publisher 2003 I obviously need to do them double sided. When I attempt to feed them through for the reverse side the card jams about 90% of the time. I use an HP PSC 1210 series and have contacted them for advice several times and followed all the advice ie cleaning rollers etc but to no avail. Their last email contained some complicated jargon. The only sensible explanation I have heard was from a friend who said that it was the dampness of the ink on the other side of the card that causes the problem. Does anyone agree or have a solution?

Hi,
First of all i cant see it being a dirty roller., yeah I know they can get dirty but rarely to the extent that the paper jams and I've had some dirty rollers in the past but if they're cleaned every so often they will be fine. On the subject of dampness I'm assuming you're using either an inkjet or bubble jet? Either way the ink will remain tacky for a while.

One possible solution would be to print one side of the card or cards first, wait a few minutes (make a coffee, whatever) then print the other. By that time the ink on the first side should have dried sufficiently. Also the type of paper you're using could affect things. With glossy paper (eg photo) the ink sits on top and takes ages to dry properly, however cheap pourous paper, while it dries quicker has the added downside of warping the paper. Use paper/card recommended for your printer.
